Music for Flutes and more

Hannah Blalock, harpist joins Sam P. Stowe III, flute; Gardner-Webb University Flute Ensemble also performs. Belmont Abbey and Gardner-Webb faculty member Stowe will be featured in the Debussy Trio for flute, viola and harp.
Gardner-Webb University student Hannah Blalock recently performed at the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) National Competition in New York City. She was one of only three finalists from over 400 submissions across the nation in the harp division. Blalock, from Matthews, N.C. is a harp performance and church music major in the GWU School of Performing and Visual Arts. She also serves as a resident advisor at GWU, a tutor for the Music Department, and is a Presidential Scholar in Music.
Blalock studies with New York harp professor, Sivan Magen. After making trips to New York for rehearsal sessions, followed by her performance, Blalock is preparing for future competitions like the Dutch International Competition and Music Festival to be held in Holland in 2014. Sam Stowe is professor of flute at Gardner-Webb University and director of the Flute Ensemble there. He also directs the BAC wind ensemble. Stowe is known through the region where he plays with several orchestras.
